Kent County voters in November will help decide a funding plan for the John Ball Zoo and Grand Rapids Public Museum.
On Thursday, the Kent County Commission approved a 10-year measure to provide a dedicated funding source for both organizations.
If approved, it would cost the average Kent County homeowner an additional $37 a year and would raise about $9 million.
Organizers say it’s necessary because the public subsidy from the City of Grand Rapids has been eliminated.
The election is scheduled for November 8.
